Synopsis

“ Hajime no Ippo: Fighting Spirit! ” is about the eponymous title character Ippo Makunouchi – a shy, helpful and friendly high school student. However, Ippo is also rather naive and, thus, all too often becomes the victim of bullying by his classmates. One day, they lurk him under a bridge to give him a rougher beating than usual. Though, they are accidentally spotted by a passerby, who quickly disarms the attackers. The jogger turns out to be Mamoru Takamura, an aspiring professional boxer blessed with the talent of the century. Impressed by him and determined to become stronger, Ippo decides to become a boxer himself. And after his first sparring session at the Kamogawa Gym, it is obvious that he too has talent and a predisposition for boxing. Motivated by his role model and the skills of his rivals, Ippo fights his way to the national top in practically no time. Will he be able to climb to the top and claim it for himself? What will happen next? Follow his troubled yet blessed journey!
